Câmara Brasileira da Indústria da Construção (CBIC) today announced that it has partnered with SGS and Sintali to jointly promote EDGE, the green building certification programme launched by the International Finance Corporation (“IFC”), a member of the World Bank Group.
EDGE helps property owners and developers build and operate green buildings. It is supported by free software that encourages solutions to improve energy efficiency, water efficiency and the embodied energy in materials by at least 20% compared to a local baseline, which is the minimum standard for EDGE certification. The local baseline is calculated based on building codes, local climatic data and standard industry practices for Brazil.
The consortium of Sintali-SGS acts as an EDGE global certification services provider for IFC. Operating as a one-stop shop for EDGE certification and audit services, Sintali-SGS deliver the highest quality service for clients around the world. With experience certifying and auditing projects throughout Brazil and in over 60 countries around the world, Sintali-SGS bring global expertise to local markets.
Through this partnership, members of CBIC members will get access to exclusive discounts to apply for EDGE certification and auditing. CBIC members will also be able to access discounted trainings to build capacity for green building implementation locally.
