We are pleased to announce that Sintali has now expanded its auditor network in India and is working with multiple firms to help service clients across the nation. Sintali will continue to work with SGS India but is now accepting applications from other auditors to form partnerships. 

India is a growing market. In 2021 the construction sector alone was valued at $609.6 billion, with the annual average growth rate predicted to reach over 6% between 2023 and 2026. By 2030, the real estate industry in India is expected to reach $1 trillion and contribute 13% to India’s GDP. With an estimated housing shortage of up to 73.6 million units, this indicates not only an opportunity but a real need to increase construction and provide sustainable and affordable infrastructure.

EDGE provides a unique solution to this market because it enables companies to develop green buildings at scale, something which will be essential given the nature of the growth in the country. The EDGE green building standard was introduced in India in 2014. As of 2020, there are 0.5 million sqm of certified floorspace in 2020 within the country, which accounted for 7% of green buildings certified. Needless to say, that number has grown significantly since then.

We hope this expansion will lead to further growth of the EDGE standard and accelerate the adoption of green building certification across all typologies, including affordable housing, warehousing, office space, hospitals, schools and beyond.
