Looking to certify a project by the end of 2023?

The end of the year is upon us so it’s time to start planning if you want your project to be certified within 2023. Between COP28 and the end of financial year, the next few months tend to be busy for all parties so please take note of the following deadlines.

All clients hoping to achieve preliminary or final EDGE certification before the end of the year should inform their EDGE Auditor and Sintali of their specific needs as early as possible.

EDGE Project Team Deadlines

No certification work can commence without the receipt of payment.

If you want a project certified before Christmas, you must do the following:

  • Ensure all registration payments are completed by 30th September 2023
  • Ensure all certification payments are completed by the 27th October 2023

Hint: send remittance payment to our account teams as soon as payment is made to make this process faster!

EDGE Auditor Deadlines

We typically have a four-week turnaround time between submission of audit and issuance of certificate.

Assuming all of client documentation is perfect and the audit does not require any feedback or changes, then the final day for submission to get the project certified by Christmas is the 24th November 2023.

However, we do want to note that the majority of projects require 2 review submissions. This means you need to account for another 3 weeks.

To ensure a project is certified by Christmas, submit your project for review by the 27th October 2023.

Please note this deadline assumes that all comments submitted during the first review will be addressed and re-submitted within 5 days, and all related certification payments have been settled by the 27th October.

Any deviations from these conditions will affect the certification timelines and may result in projects not meeting deadlines.

Below you will find a visual highlighting the typical timeframes required for certification reviews:

We highly recommend that all EDGE auditors plan ahead and cover all the steps necessary, so there are no surprises down the line that will affect timelines for certification.

There are several steps in a certification process:

  • Payment of invoices
  • Submitting project for registration
  • Uploading documentation
  • Submitting project for audit
  • Feedback to client
  • Submitting project for review
  • Feedback to auditor
  • Issuance of certification

By working with your clients as early as possible to set out clear timelines and considering the above timelines, you can ensure that projects that meet the EDGE standard and are eligible for certification are delivered within deadlines.

Notes
The Sintali office will be closed for Christmas from Monday 25th December 2023 until Tuesday 2nd January 2024.

While expedited review requests are available, please note these are not guaranteed and will be evaluated on a case by case basis dependent on capacity. We would not recommend counting on expedited review requests, and instead would advise all project teams and auditors to plan ahead and make sure to meet the deadlines specified above.
